Flash Flood Warning issued July 1 at 4:30PM EDT until July 1 at 6:45PM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 430 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 0.7 and 1.25 inch of rain has
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inch are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Penn Hills, Ross Township, McCandless Township, Franklin Park,
Shaler Township, Plum, Murrysville, Hampton Township, New
Kensington, Lower Burrell, Harrison Township, O'hara Township,
Wexford, West View, Oakmont, Fox Chapel, Arnold, Tarentum, Natrona
Heights and Springdale.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
