Special Weather Statement issued July 1 at 11:48AM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
The combination of warm temperatures and high dewpoints will
produce heat indices between 104 and 107 degrees this afternoon
and early evening. A few locations across the Coastal Plains and
Rio Grande could see peak heat index values around 108 to 110
degrees. Residents with outdoor activities planned are urged to
drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks from the heat to
reduce risk of heat related illness. Young children and pets
should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather
when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of
minutes.
