Special Weather Statement issued June 27 at 3:07PM EDT by NWS State College PA
At 306 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Middletown to near Weigelstown to near
Parkville. Movement was east at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation
possible.
Locations impacted include...
York, Weigelstown, Elizabethtown, Columbia, Millersville, Mount Joy,
Red Lion, Spry, Manheim, Dallastown, Shiloh, East York,
Stonybrook-Wilshire, West York, Salunga-Landisville, Maytown,
Shrewsbury, Codorus, Grantley and Valley Green.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Very heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
