IMPORTANT NOTICE

Attention, residents of Pocono Township and Monroe County! We regret to inform you that the smoke and haze conditions are expected to worsen today. Due to a unique weather pattern, our county is still affected by smoke from the devastating wildfires in Canada. Please take the following precautions to protect your health:

-Limit your outdoor activities as much as possible. The air quality is poor, so it's best to stay indoors if you can.

-If you must go outside, avoid strenuous activities like jogging or running. Additionally, wearing a mask can help filter the air you breathe.

-Keep all windows and doors closed to minimize air pollution inside your home.

-Use fans to recirculate air within your home. This will help prevent bringing more polluted air from outside.

-Steer clear of areas with high congestion or where air pollution is likely to be elevated, such as main streets or highways with low circulation.

-Individuals with underlying illnesses should closely monitor themselves for symptoms like trouble breathing, nausea, and dizziness. If these symptoms occur, seek medical attention promptly.

Monroe County OEM & 911 urge residents to use discretion when reporting smoke conditions to prevent overload on the 911 system. If you visually observe a fire or any emergency situation, please call 911 immediately.
