Description
We have received several calls about discolored water in your area. This is being caused by Red Lion Water flushing out their water system.
This is an annual requirement by DEP (Department of Enviromental Protection).
This is done by opening 1 hydrant at a time throughout the water system and let it flow at a high rate for several minutes in order to mix up and flush out the minerals that settle to the bottom of the pipe over the past year.
In doing so, many homes may experience discolored water and/or little to no water pressure during the time of flushing in your area. This may be sporadic throughout the day/ week.
If you experience discolored water, let it run for a few minutes until it clears out.
AVOID DOING LAUNDRY IF EXPERIENCING DISCOLORED WATER!
IN ADDITION, Dallastown/ Yoe Water will begin their Hydrant Flushing Program once Red Lion Water has completed their entire system. This, once again, will affect your area. We will be sending out more notifications when that time comes so you can prepare accordingly.
Please call the Borough Office at 717-244-6626 with any questions or concerns!
