Description
The borough is looking for residents to fill potential vacancies on council appointed boards/committees.

The terms of several current members are about to expire, and Council is interested in determining the names of citizens who are willing and able to serve.

Any Forest Hills citizen interested in serving on a committee, commission or board should forward a letter of application with name of committee(s) of interest and a recent resume or brief biography to the Borough Office, 4400 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. Please indicate “volunteer” in the bottom left corner of the envelope. Applications should be submitted to the Borough Office as soon as possible but no later than Noon, February 2, 2023 for March appointment, although applications will be accepted throughout the year until all positions are filled.

Current volunteers whose terms are expiring must contact the Borough Office to indicate their interest in reapplying for the position. Committees, commissions and boards that may have vacancies include the following (though a vacancy may occur on any board through the year):

• Civil Service Commission – (6 year term) - supervises process for hiring and/or promoting police officers

• Environmental Advisory Council – (5 year term) - reviews environmental impact statements; provides advice to council on parks, green space, bird sanctuary, etc.

• Neighborhood Crime Resistance – (2 year term) - promotes crime resistance techniques and programs

• Planning Commission – (4 year term) - advisory board that reviews development plans and the comprehensive plan

• Recreation Board – (5 year term) - advises council on recreation matters

• Shade Tree & Shrub Committee – (3 year term) - supervises and administers the shade tree program

• Zoning Hearing Board – (3 year term) - conducts hearings on zoning appeals and other related requests under the PA Municipalities Planning Code
