Wind Chill Advisory issued December 23 at 7:41AM EST until December 24 at 11:00AM EST by NWS State College PA
* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total
snow accumulations of up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as
50 mph. For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills
expected. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero.
* WHERE...Cumberland and Adams Counties.
* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 7 AM this morning
to 2 PM EST this afternoon. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from
1 PM this afternoon to 11 AM EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions will likely impact the morning commute. Gusty winds
could bring down tree branches and cause scattered power
outages. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed
skin in as little as 30 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The snow combined with the increasing
wind, sharply falling temperatures and initially wet roads may
lead to a flash freeze and extremely dangerous travel
conditions.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania
Turnpike Commission remind motorists to adjust speeds based on
driving conditions as winter weather impacts will include snow
covered roads and limited visibility.
