Description
PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that the start of a closure on Verona Road at Second Avenue in Penn Hills has been moved to 9 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022. The intersection was expected to close Monday morning, but an unexpected issue with the detour signage prevented that from occurring. The needed signage won’t be available until Friday, so Public Works has decided to wait until October 3, 2022 to close the intersection. The closure, which is still expected to end next month, is required for reconstruction of the intersection.

Traffic will be detoured using Wildwood Avenue, Allegheny River Boulevard, Plum Street, Hunter Road, Hamil Road, and Poketa Road.

In addition to the upcoming closure, there will continue to be short stoppages at work zones on Verona Road between Saltsburg Road and Second Avenue. Flaggers are being used to control traffic. Those traffic restrictions, which are expected to end in November, are required for milling and paving, base repairs, drainage improvements, shoulder work, and guide rail replacement.
