Description
Our water system recently violated a drinking water standard. The East Stroudsburg Borough Water Department has levels of total trihalomethanes above drinking water standards. We routinely monitor for the presence of drinking water contaminants. Results from testing completed for JULY 12TH 2022 showed that our system exceeded the standard, or maximum contaminant level (MCL), for TOTAL TRIHALOMETHANES. Although this incident was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we are doing to correct this situation. There is nothing you need to do. You do not need to use an alternative water supply, such as bottled water, and no need to boil your water. The Borough is actively working to address this problem by flushing of select areas of the water system and increasing the utilization of our groundwater sources.
