Description
In the past month or so we have had 3 reports of catalytic converter thefts from vehicles. The thefts took place on Charlton Street, Joel Street and North Duane Avenue. In most cases the part is cut out from under the vehicle in about 2-5 minutes using a battery operated sawzall. This tool is loud and with the cooler weather approaching and windows open at night you may hear something unusual. If you do, please contact 911 immediately.
Please, DO NOT call the non emergency number at the station first. That will waste valuable time in the response and there is not much time to spare when calling 911.
This type of theft is taking place all over Allegehny County and the surrounding areas.
