The Edinboro Area Historical Society is pleased to invite the community to a Public Meeting on Wednesday, May 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Society's annual Historic Preservation Award will be presented to Julie Marchese, who is being recognized for saving the iconic Octagonal Building that once stood at the Edinboro Fairgrounds. It is now part of Scotland Yards Greenhouse. Our speaker, Melinds Meyer, President of Preservation Erie, will give a presentation on "Protecting Places That Matter." She will emphasize that historic preservation lies with local support and preservation ordinances enacted by local governments. The Edinboro Area Historical Society's public meetings are held in the Edinboro United Methodist Church's Grace Hall at 113 High Street. The church location provides lots of easy parking and is handicapped accessible.
A brief business meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. followed by refreshments. The preservation certificate will be presented to Julie Marchese and the talk by Melinda Meyer will begin at 7:00 p.m
