Celebrating a Taste of the Sea:
The 54th Cedar Key Seafood Festival
October 18-19, 2025
Cedar Key, a small Gulf Coast Island town in Florida, hosts its 54th annual Cedar Key Lions Club Seafood Festival, drawing in seafood enthusiasts, Arts and Crafts shoppers, and festival-goers from near and far. The festival, known for its seafood offerings and vibrant Old Florida atmosphere, continues to be a highlight in the town's calendar each year.
The Cedar Key Seafood Festival is a celebration of the town's rich maritime heritage and the abundance of seafood that the Gulf of Mexico provides. Visitors have the opportunity to savor a variety of fresh seafood dishes, ranging from succulent shrimp, oyster, and clam dishes to flavorful fish sandwiches and everything in between. As it has for over half a century, the seafood festival food is totally prepared by Cedar Key’s watermen and women and local cooks for church groups, school clubs, and other Cedar Key nonprofits as a major fundraiser for the year. No food trucks to be found here!
Local food booths are set up Saturday and Sunday in Cedar Key’s scenic beachfront park, offering attendees a chance to sample some of the best food dishes the region has to offer, along with live music performed by local musicians .
In addition to the delicious food at the festival and in cafes and restaurants around town, the festival also offers a range of entertainment options for visitors of all ages. Saturday morning features the popular Seafood Festival Parade marching through town, with bikes, boats, golf carts, and walkers competing for best float and costume. Live music performances in the park create a festive ambiance, while over 100 arts and crafts vendors on 2nd street showcase their handmade creations. Fun Children’s activities in the park has local artists giving kids hands-on instruction on how to paint their very own art masterpieces. The celebration continues in our restaurants and taverns, offering fine food and music throughout the day and into the evening.
The Cedar Key Seafood Festival is not only a celebration of the town's long seafood heritage but also a reflection of the close-knit community that calls Cedar Key home. Volunteers work tirelessly to organize and put on the festival each year, showcasing the town's spirit of hospitality and dedication to preserving its maritime traditions.
