To celebrate Women's History Month, join local historian and McCandless resident Sue Morris for her presentation of The Horne's Lingerie Lady on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m. at the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage and Cultural Center.
Get a look at what life was like for ladies in the 1920s through the experiences of a Pittsburgh woman who traveled the world as a department store lingerie buyer for Pittsburgh's Joseph Horne Company. The presentation reveals Horne's earliest history in the context of the growth of department stores (especially as related to women's lives), 1920s fashion and lingerie, and the Far East experiences of the buyer.
Morris, who maintains a popular blog as “The Historical Dilettante”, is an independent historian and researcher of 19th and early 20th century Pittsburgh.
