Description
Duquesne Light was informed by PennDot that they needed to relocate several utility poles that were in the path of the project particularly near the Ryan Glen Park off Cascade Road. The relocation would have required Duquesne Light to severely prune trees that were in the path of the rerouted utility lines. Duquesne Light did not need permission to prune the trees but nevertheless consulted with the Borough, the Shade Tree and Shrub Committee and our arborist on the best course of action. The amount of pruning necessary would have severely damaged the trees and likely caused them to die. It was determined that the best course of action was to remove the trees. Once construction is completed new trees will be planted to replace those removed. The replacements will be native trees and planted away from utility lines to avoid such situations in the future.
